Guernsey Power Station
Guernsey Power Station in southern Guernsey County, Ohio, is a natural gas-fired energy generation facility that produces electricity equivalent to the power needs of approximately 1.4 million homes. The 1,875 MW plant uses combined-cycle technology consisting of both natural gas-powered turbines and steam-powered turbines. The electric generating facility sells energy and capacity into the PJM market. PJM Interconnection LLC is the regional transmission organization that coordinates the movement of wholesale electricity in 13 states, including Ohio.
Aspire Energy Express provides natural gas transportation service for the Guernsey Power Station. Planning of the Guernsey Power Meter Station began in 2017, with construction completed in October 2021. To prepare for this project, Aspire Energy relocated a six-inch diameter steel gathering line to serve the power station from the 42-inch diameter Tallgrass Energy REX pipeline. The project provides 300,000 dekatherms/day of natural gas transportation at full pressure, about 1,175 pounds per square inch.
